Cupping & Guasha
Cupping and guasha are ancient healing practices that date back hundreds of years. While they have long been popular in Asian cultures, an increasing number of people worldwide are now using these methods to treat pain and boost immune function, both at home and in medical settings.
During cupping and guasha, non-inflammatory injury would be induced by applying suction on or scraping the concerned area. This process activates the immune system in response to the “injury”, and as a result, circulation in the treated area is improved due to the influx of oxygen and nutrients and removal of blockages. Cupping or guasha often times is combined with massage, acupuncture, or other alternative therapies.
Wet Cupping
Wet cupping is a specific type of cupping method in which the skin over the affected area is lacerated, allowing blood to be drawn into the cups. Like traditional cupping and guasha, wet cupping can promote circulation and detoxification due the a series of biochemical reaction in response to the “injury”. An additional therapeutic benefit of wet cupping is that it can provide immediate assistance when blockages are larger than what the body's natural forces can remove, thereby accelerating the healing process.
Unlike regular cupping and guasha, which can be performed by any average Joe, wet cupping requires a deep understanding and intuition about how the body functions and the relationships between its meridians. As a result, having a license or certification in any healthcare field does not necessarily equate to possessing this specialized knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, this trend is exacerbated in America by individuals who take only a few hours of weekend courses on the subject.
Massage Cupping
Invented in Taiwan, the Bi Bao Ting is a 2-in-1 massage and cupping machine that combines modern technology with ancient cupping techniques. It simultaneously contracts and relaxes the muscles to promote relaxation, circulation, and detoxification, offering a painless and effective treatment for healing in a comfortable setting.
